Running in circles and being a crazy

Running in circles and being a crazy

Hi ya, little dove,

Do you ever feel like

you’re running hundred miles per hour?

In circles.

You’re dizzy. Your mind is tangled.

You can’t remember stuff.

         But just go, go, go.

And when was the last time you made a clear decision?

People are fuzzy and the rest of the world is one big swirling blur around you. But you’re too tired to look around anyway.

         Just go, go go.

You have no idea where you’re going and how you’re supposed to get there.

Keep going, faster – that’s it.

And all the while, you feel you’re going

            C r a z y.

                            Like 100% mad.

And before long, you just know you’re going to crash into something.

                            Go, go, go.

So it turns out that everyone feels like this. Even if they don’t admit it. They do.

There’s a famous saying – “Easy does it” – that helps some people remember to calm themselves.

But I don’t like that saying at all.

There’s nothing easy about life and dealing with it every day, especially when you have alcoholic parents or other drug-addicted family members or you’re going through any kind of rough stuff on the home front.

I don’t have a saying that makes me feel all better, suddenly sane and totally in control of everything.

But it does help to remember that all you can do is

       live right now

and do what you can to make today better

because tomorrow is tomorrow and you can only control today.

Go somewhere you feel safe. In the garage. In your room with your headphones on. On a walk.

             Breathe

                              as though you’re supposed to

remind yourself to take each breath.

Sending hugs and happy-week wishes your way…

- Jody
